Construction of the Tampere Central Square Summer starts

Central Square in summer.

Construction of the Central Square Summer event area started on Monday 16 June. During this time, the event area will be fenced off as a construction site. The area will open to the public on 1 July 2025.

Several major events will take place in Tampere this summer. To celebrate the event season, the City of Tampere is opening a cosy event area in the Central Square, offering a wide range of activities, programmes and restaurant services.

The event area will be located in Central Square (Keskustori), between the Old City Hall (Raatihuone) and the Tampere Theatre.

The Central Square Summer area has been prepared for a variety of weather conditions. The area will have a covered terrace section with heat lamps. There will also be windbreaks and sunshades.

During the summer, Tampere will host several major international events, including the PDGA Professional Disc Golf World Championships,  the European Athletics U20 Championships, the IVV Olympics, and one of the group phases of the European Men’s Basketball Championship.

The sporting spirit is also reflected in the Central Square Summer, where a wide range of activities and programmes are organised by major event organisers and the City of Tampere. – The city of Tampere will be hosting a number of major international sporting events this summer. Alongside the competition venues, we want to give people the chance to experience the atmosphere of the events in the heart of the city, at Central Square. In addition to the sporting events, other local events will also be presented there. We hope to generate a lively buzz in the area for the summer,” says event producer Matilda Toriseva.

In addition to the programme of activities, the area offers a wide range of restaurants. These include Boulangerie Marco, Guru’s Kitchen & Bar, Kumma Bar & Street Kitchen, Los Pollos, Maranga, Restaurant UkkoMetso and Salsallada.

The Tampere Central Square Summer event area will be open from 1 July to 3 September 2025. Entry to the area is free, and there are no age restrictions.
