International IVV Olympiads arrive in Tampere – Athlete village at the central square
Tampere’s summer of major sporting events continues as the International IVV Olympiads take over the city from August 12 to 17. Tampere Central Square Summer event area will once again serve as the event village. The square will be filled with a fun side program and a vibrant athletic atmosphere.
International IVV Olympiads will set up its athlete village at the central square event area on Tuesday, 12 August. The event will bring together about a thousand participants from around the world, competing in walking, cycling, swimming, canoeing, and orienteering.
At the central square, visitors can enjoy a relaxed side program with competition studios, games, and activities for all ages throughout the event. From Thursday to Sunday, 14–17 August, there will be a daily stretching session at 1 pm, led by well-known Tampere sports personalities. The fitness atmosphere will continue at the market square until Sunday, August 17.
Following the Olympiads, Tampere’s event-filled summer continues with Festivaali and a concert by Apulanta. The season concludes with Tampere embracing the spirit of the European Basketball Championships.
