Tampere’s summer of events culminates with EuroBasket 2025 – Central Square becomes the Wolf Den

Tampere’s summer of events will reach its grand finale as the EuroBasket 2025 arrives in the city from 25 August to 3 September. During the tournament, Central Square will transform into the Wolf Den, featuring fan studios, relaxed entertainment, and activities for all ages.
The European Men’s Basketball Championship, EuroBasket 2025, returns to Tampere for the first time in 58 years. One of the preliminary rounds will be played at Nokia Arena from August 27 to September 3, 2025, and the final games will be held in the Latvian capital, Riga. In addition to Finland, Lithuania, Germany, Montenegro, Great Britain, and Sweden will play in the preliminary rounds in Tampere.
Wolf den at Central Square
During the tournament, the Central Square will be transformed into a wolf den offering tournament studios, entertainment, and activities for all ages. You can test your basket shooting and take part in quizzes. A free throw competition will be held daily from 7:30 pm to 8 pm. On Monday, August 25, from 6:15 pm to 7 pm, some of the Finnish national team players will visit the square.
Children can join Hippo Basketball sessions according to the schedule below. On Friday, August 29, there will also be face painting and fun activities from 1pm to 5pm. Local basketball clubs will host daily activity stations, exhibition games, and shooting contests.

- Tue, Sept. 2, 5:30–6:15 pm Ages 6–8 and 6:15–7:00 pm Ages 9–12
- Wed 3 September, 3–4.30 pm for 6–8-year-olds and 4.30–6 pm for 9–12-year-olds
Tampere Central Square Summer area will be open until the end of the EuroBasket on 3 September. It is free of charge and open to everyone, with no age restrictions. The restaurants on site will also operate during the events. The latest information on opening hours, event program, and any changes can be found on the website and social media channels.
Tampere howls with its basketball campaign
Businesses in the center of Tampere are cheering on Finnish national team “Susijengi” with the joint Tampere Says AAUUU! campaign organised by the city, the basketball association and the Rakas Tampere business community. The free Tampere.Finland app features a wide range of special offers from shops, services, and restaurants in the city center. You can also get into the basketball spirit at many restaurants that show the games on their premises.
Sauna Capital Express – sauna bus tour
You can also enjoy the atmosphere of the EuroBasket in the sauna, as the Sauna Capital Express sauna bus will be touring Tampere on the tournament weekend of August 30–31. This is a unique and free hop-on hop-off tour that takes participants to saunas around the city. The bus ride is free of charge, but sauna entrance fees are paid directly at each sauna.
